A Finnish / Swedish children's creative space

I 'm re-arranging my little girls room ahead of a photo shoot later this month (eeek, so much to do, such little time!) and was so excited when my mini heart stickers arrived in the post yesterday. One aim is to provide a great space where they can sit and create with all their pens, paints (actually is that a good idea?! ha!), stickers and glue (hmmm?). I came across this fab inspiration from Ferm Living (created by Rikke and Emma) which fits the bill. This post is also dedicated to all the readers who've been patiently waiting for boys room inspiration (I see it as a perfect space for little guys or gals and actually big kids too don't you?).

Styling: Rikke, Emma. Ferm Living

I spy Ferm Living pieces, the STOCKHOLM rug, String shelving and the Batgirl print.

What are your thoughts on black and white for a child's bedroom? Do you have any tips on creating a creative / work space?

For more rooms like this check out this, this and this room. And my favourite shops for children's items Nordic Think, Smallable and Bodie and Fou. Too tempting!

If you're looking for inspiration for your own work space my favourites include this industrial space, a norwegian / danish home office,  a converted warehouse and these beautiful vintage inspired creative spots. Which one of these would you choose?!

Have a lovely day and see you tomorrow!

A cool girl's bedroom in green and dusty pink

As a mother of two little girls I'm always on the look out for beautiful children's room inspiration. I recently came across Julie's bedroom (designed by her Mummy, Eva of Le Petit Biscuit in the Netherlands) and felt immediately drawn to it. First, I'm a big fan of Ferm Living wall paper and have been thinking about this wallpaper for my little girls' room, and secondly I absolutely lovely the colour combination of mint green and pale pink.

I spy so many pieces I know and love inlcuding the brio ovenMuuto E27 light in light green, Ferm Living wallpaper, Muuto the dots hooks,  Eames DAR chair (15% off with MYSCAN), and pom poms. What a lovely room don't you think? If you'd like to see more visit eeflillemor on instagram.

Other favourite children's rooms I've seen include thisthis and this one. *sigh* I need to get decorating!

For lots more fab children's items my sponsor Smallable has a fab selection of children's clothes, homeware and toys.

What colours have you decorated / would you decorate a children's room in?

A white and yellow children's bedroom

Hello, and happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Is it just me or was it near impossible to get up this morning? Last night my man and I wrote down a few plans of what we'd like to do in 2014. Out of a list of 10 we agreed on a couple of things - we'd both like to do a hut to hut three day hike in Norway (any tips?) and we both agreed on a sailing holiday in the Stockholm archipelagos so it's looking like a Scamdinavian summer, the rest is back to the drawing board! Of course I have lots of plans for the house too. One room that's destined for a make-over is my little girls' room. Here's my inspiration (from Maiike Koster).

Maiike Koster, My Deer

It's very white, which of course I love but I know my girls will want more colour. So this is merely a pipe dream. But so beautiful don't you think? Clever Maiike!

Get the look: Apple papple print, cardboard play house, sheep skin rug. Cool cushions. Beautiful children's clothing to match the beautiful room!

Do you remember Maiike's beautiful home which I showed a few weeks ago?

Have a lovely Monday!

PS Do you have 'must-do' plans for 2014?

Children's room from Bang Bang Copenhagen / Ollie & Seb's Haus

My older little girl is keen to update her bedroom and never one to turn down a decorating opportunity I've been pouring over children's room inspiration on Pinterest. One of the coolest children's rooms I've seen is from the home of Deborah of Ollie & Seb's Haus. The fab room has been styled for an A/W 2013 cushion shoot for quirky children's clothing and accessory brand Bang Bang Copenhagen.  Last week I was admiring the sofa in the kitchen - today I'm dreaming of my children having a big enough bedroom to fit a sofa like this one - so comfy!

Ollie & Seb's Haus, Bang Bang Copenhagen. with kind permission.

I spy the white rabbit lamp (I also love this cute rabbit one from Made in Design and get 10% discount with code SCANDI-HOME!), apple papple print, and Brio stove (my little girls have this and I've had many a fake meal served to me from this oven, they love it!), Tam Tam stool (10% off with code SCANDI-HOME) and Bang Bang Copenhagen cushions

You can see more pictures of Deborah's little boy's wonderful room here as well as get some more tips on where to buy some of the items you see.

Other children's rooms I love: this, this and this one. So fab!

Since it's the first advent this weekend I'm planning a Christmas post on Friday with lots of Christmas decorating ideas so if you're looking for a little inspiration pop back Friday with a cup of coffee. And of course there'll be tomorrow's usual Scandinavian home tour....

Have a lovely Wednesday!

Weekend DIY: Plus garland (and a fab little boys room)

Yesterday I wrote about one of my favourite blogs SMÄM by Swedish illustrator / designer Sara Woodrow. Today I'd like to share one of her fab DIY ideas: a plus garland. Sara designed it for her little boy Alfie's room (and what an incredible little boys room it is!) but I think you could use it anywhere, and you won't believe how simple it is to make! Weekend project anyone?

SMÄM Sara Woodrow with kind permission

Looking to make your own plus garland? Here's how: All you need is a white thread and black electrical tape. Cut the tape into four equal strips and then stick them together either side of the wire equally spaced apart. As simple as that! You could also create stars, hearts, letters.....

Thank you Sara for allowing me to share all your lovely images and ideas this week!

PS How wonderful is her little boys room?! For more Scandinavian children's bedrooms I love this, this and this one. Oh and how cute is this one to embrace the spirit of winter? It was one of the first posts I ever did!

PPS If you're looking for cute little children's clothing don't forget my sponsors Loja Dada and Babyssimo for very cool, baby clothes with a twist or Smallable for the mini designer! :)

Hope it's sunny where you are as it is in Malmö today.

A fun children's space in the Netherlands

Morning! I hope you had a great weekend? I got back from Berlin yesterday, I've never been before, have you? It's such a cool city! It's good to be home and see my guy and little girls too though. Today I'd like to share this very cute children's bedroom with you from the home of Femke Dekker of interiors shop Femkeido in the Netherlands. I love the grey, white and pops of colour. And that rustic bunk bed which looks like it's been lifted straight out of a Scandinavian summer cottage!

A cute Swedish family apartment

Hello, how are you today?! I've been in a rush since I woke up (I think it's one of those days where I'll always be one step behind). Sorry if this is a bit rushed but i really wanted to share this home currently for sale in Gothenburg, Sweden. What strikes me most is the children's room for two. It's so sweetly laid out I can just see the little ones chatting away in their beds or drawing along side each other at their desks. Oh and OK, the Bumling light in the kitchen is a bit of a favourite too.....

Stadshem
The clothes in the bedroom are such a useful styling tool. I recently had a photo shoot in my home (can't wait to share more with you soon) and I could really emphasize the look and feel I wanted by taking a few select items from my wardrobe. Perfect! Who says clothes are just for wearing?

A fun and relaxed children's room by Oeuf

It's been ages since I posted a children's bedroom and this one's way to cool to miss. It was photographed by Julia Ansiau for Oeuf which sells eco freindly children's furniture, clothes and accessories. What a fun, relaxed room. Love all those FAB cushions and knits, how cute are they?! and the drawings on the wall (fun DIY project for a rainy weekend?).  In some ways it reminds me of the bedroom I shared with my sister when I was little, we had the same floor, a similar bunkbed and I guess, toys all over the floor :)

Julia Ansiau for Oeuf via Fawn and Forest

What do you reckon, does it remind you of your room as a child at all?

I found these images at Fawn and Forest which is such an amazing shop (and blog) and sells many of the things you see here in this room including the Elephant cot,  Perch bunkbed, and Arctecnica Themis Trio Mobile.

Check out other very cool children's bedrooms here, here, and here! Which is your favourite?

A cute Finnish children's bedroom

Hello! Just a super quick note from me today. But how cute is this Finnish children's bedroom from fab blog Varpunen? I love all the adorable cushions, I recognise the house one from Danish brand Lucky Boy Sunday. I also love the Elihu the Elephant clock. What a super cute, cosy and fun room!

Do you know where any of the other cushions are from? I love the snail one!

Could you imagine this style for your (future?) little ones bedroom?

My home: little girls room

Hej hej! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here are a  few pictures of my little girls room.  When I was little I used to share a room with my big sister and remember whispering and giggling well after the lights had been turned off so I was really keen for my girls to share too. When I planned this room my goal was to make it as light as possible and then pepper it with splashes of primary colours and pretty patterns.

All pictures: My Scandinavian Home

In case you're wondering, here's a little info about where things are from: their bed is the 'Snow' bunk bed from Mio. Almost everything else was picked up at one of my favourite local shops Udda Tina - the bed spreads, the long suffering stag (his right antler has been glued on more times than I can remember!), the white basket, purple dressing-up box and picture frames are all Rice. The pretty patterned boxes are House Doctor. The handsome giraffe is from a local Fair Trade Shop. I made the purple cushion using fabric from Panduro's Hobby and the rug is Designers Guild.

If you look closely you'll see I've cheated a little - these pictures haven't been taken on the same day so all the items have moved around a bit, it is a children's room after all! :)

The next step is the other side of the room - still a work in progress!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
